Video games have been imitating sports since the days of Pong. That famously clean back-and-forth is basically a tennis match.
You can understand why video game pioneers chose sports as their subject matter. Each sport has its own set of regulations that are simple to understand and well-defined.
That’s not to argue that every sports game needs to be a carbon copy of the actual thing. Several of them play fast and loose with the rules, and others have no real-world counterpart.
The list below contains all forms of sporting games. The vast variety of sports games is never more obvious than on the Google Play Store.

Fishing Superstars
Is fishing seen as a sport? Indeed, it qualifies as a sport, albeit not one that requires as much physical exertion (unless you’re hauling in a monster catch). Jokes aside, Fishing Superstars is a hugely addicting Android sports game in which you capture various types of fish.
The visuals are adorable, and it has a’retro’ feel to it, what with the anime characters and everything. It looks like an old-school JRPG, but it’s simply another fishing game. You should definitely check it out if you’re looking for a casual game with a lot of competitive potential. Even if you don’t like fishing, it may be a lot of fun and keep you occupied for a long time.

Football Manager 2023 Mobile
On our Android smartphones, we have a legitimate version of Football Manager. Football Manager 2023 Mobile is one of the most in-depth portable games available in any genre. You have a true simulator – a simulator where you can design your ideal squad and recruit football’s all-time greats.
You may coach your squad as you like, design multiple systems and tactics, and even watch the game in replay or real time (slightly shortened, of course). It’s a fun experience all around, particularly if you like football and games where you can control the speed of the action without having to perform all of the ball passing yourself…
Punch Club
You know how the first rule of the Punch Club is that no one talks about the Punch Club. Isn’t that close?
This charmer allows you to train your own MMA fighter as well as manage his mundane life outside of the ring. There is no real combat in Punch Club, but you will feel completely immersed in it. It’s comparable to Football Manager 2023 in some ways, but with drastically different aesthetics. Punch Club is a fantastic pixelated masterpiece, but FM2023 takes a more clean, realistic approach.
We have a Punch Club review where we go through more of its features. Although there aren’t many hands-on brawls, there are plenty of other things to do.
New Star Soccer
New Star Soccer, which breaks down a footballer’s career into entertainingly bite-sized mini-games, is a footy title that even non-football enthusiasts will love. Nonetheless, you should read our New Star Soccer review. There, we’ve mentioned everything we loved and everything we weren’t fully satisfied with (not too many of those).
New Star Soccer will have a genre clash since it is inspired by simulations and RPGs (yeah, that means in a way it resembles Football Manager 2023). It is, nevertheless, an Android sports game worth checking out. It’s hard to discover a football game that appeals to those who don’t like football, but this one does it with ease.
Rocket League Sideswipe
Rocket League Sideswipe is a free-to-play mobile sports simulation. The core concept of shooting the ball into a football goal with vehicles was kept for the mobile iteration. But, the remainder of the gameplay has altered; for example, in the mobile edition, you must play in 1v1 or 2v2 mode. In addition, the bouts are shorter, lasting around 2 minutes.
Sideswipe includes exciting gameplay and high-quality visuals. It also won the Pocket Gamer Awards 2022 in the category “Best Mobile Sports Game.”
Grand Mountain Adventure
Beautiful graphics? Check. Simple controls? Check. Is there a lot of stuff to go into? Double-check!
That’s the gist of why you should check out Grand Mountain Adventure. This skiing and snowboarding experience takes place in a lovely ski resort where you are free to wander and explore. But don’t believe for a second that the GMA is easy; it’s full of hurdles, but they’re backed up with a feeling of free-roaming discovery.
You effectively have a sports game that provides both sports and sightseeing, which is everything we could ask for. Grand Mountain Adventure excels at all of these tasks, earning it a well-deserved position on our list. If you like winter activities and miss them throughout the summer, come check it out.
Skiing Yeti Mountain
Is there a more iconic image than a Yeti in a mountain? Maybe unlikely, but after inspecting this one, you might want to ascribe some skis to that Yeti. Skiing Yeti Mountain attempts to capture the experience of downhill skiing despite its informal, stylized moniker.
Skiing Yeti Mountain is worth adding to your list since it has such a nice aesthetic that is accentuated by the large, chunky pixels. It’s entertaining while being tough. You may play it for as long as you like, whether it’s one minute or one day – there’s always something new to discover and appreciate. It’s one of the few Android skiing games that doesn’t need gimmicks to seem good in front of an audience. Just read our Skiing Yeti Mountain review to see for yourself.
Birdie Crush
Real golf has a reputation for being stodgy and elite, but Birdie Crush injects a refreshing sense of fun, charm, and accessibility into the game. You essentially have a golf game with anime characters, where you may have pets and golf in different odd-looking costumes. You may even dress up like a rabbit!
It’s one of those games that may appeal to a wide range of people who don’t have to like golf to enjoy it. That was certainly the case for us. But, the RPG features, as well as the fact that players may employ superpowers and other enhancements to drive their ball into the chosen hole, make this game stand out.
There are also a variety of in-game events and incentives, so it seems appropriate for both casual and non-spenders. We even offer Birdie Crush instructions to assist you!
Table Tennis Touch
You’ll be astonished at how exciting digital ping pong can be with professional ball mechanics, gorgeous visuals, and a water-tight control mechanism. There are a variety of game types to choose from, each with its own set of difficulties and regulations.
It’s not as excellent as real-life table tennis, but when it comes to social distance, this is probably the closest you’ll get.
Now that we’ve covered a few key components of the game, let’s move on to something else. It’s as close to reality as you can get. We just cannot overlook this, as it earns Table Tennis Touch a spot on our list of the top sports games for Android. Just read our Table Tennis Touch review first so you know what to anticipate.
Bike Unchained 2
Bike Unchained 2 seems like a 3D version of Tiny Wings, except with downhill mountain riding replacing the charming birds and kaleidoscopic slopes. It’s also a lot of fun.
You should read our Bike Unchained 2 review since we tried it and fell in love with the sense of adrenaline coursing through our veins from the basic but perilous courses you may explore in it.
The visuals are fantastic – the realistic 3D approach portrays the world as it should be, and if you open a window in real life, you’ll even feel the breeze through your hair when traveling on the high mountain routes.
